Shopfront Enhancement Scheme
This project aimed to spread the remaining grant across several buildings by undertaking enhancement works to existing shopfronts rather than full repair/replacement works to one or two properties. This involved the removal of intrusive modern signage and replacement (or repair) of traditional timber fascias, new lead flashings, brickwork patch repairs, shopfront embellishments, traditional hand-painted shop signs and security measures where necessary. All works were carried out in line with the Tyldesley Town Design Guide. Lighting and glazing were not included due to budget and planning issues.
This project was undertaken in two phases. Phase one projects were completed before the end of March 2023 and phase two ran from April 2023 to March 2024.
- Phase one projects: Davina Pharmacy, Dogs Deli and Wendy’s.
- Phase two projects: D.G Optical, CJ Roberts, Impressed Ironing, Wicked Pops, 180 Dance Studio and 208-210 Elliott Street. (A hanging sign was also installed on repaired brackets at Mayhap, completing an earlier project.)
