Heritage Skills Training 

Alongside the capital projects, For Tyldesley have facilitated numerous heritage skills training events so members of the public can increase and learn heritage skills. The events include:  

  • A workshop tour with James Thorpe and Son for Elysium Training, an alternative education provider 
  • Visit to Leander Architectural to collect street name plates that the firm had refurbished or recreated for the streets within the Tyldesley HAZ area.  
  • As part of Heritage Open Days (HODS), For Tyldesley ran a Heritage Skills Market in September 2022. The day was focused around traditional building and conservation skills, where specialist contractors in the heritage sector ran stalls on how to repair and maintain historic buildings 
  • The Heritage Skills Market in April 2023 was focused around gaining knowledge and experience in heritage skills, gain an understanding of planning conditions, Conservation Areas and the Historic England HSHAZ scheme, and gain an insight into courses and careers on offer within the sector.
